Transparency of the Government

Openness, accountability, and honesty define government transparency. In a free society, transparency is government's obligation to share information with citizens. It is at the heart of how citizens hold their public officials accountable.

Florida's Sunshine Laws are among the strongest in the nation, giving every citizen access to the information necessary for participating in the democratic process. These laws protect a citizen's right to know how government operates, making information such as public events, government meeting minutes and court proceedings available. The Clerk's office fully supports transparency and accountability. With that, the Charlotte County Clerk of Courts announces a new initiative designed to improve transparency and accountability in County government.
